IMPORTANT NOTE FOR CHILD CARE PROVIDERS: The Maine Department of Health and Human Services, Office of Child and Family Services now requires licensed childcare providers to complete a specialized Pediatric First Aid course. The traditional Standard First Aid course does NOT meet the new requirement. Persons seeking licensure as childcare providers MUST take the Pediatric First Aid module. THIS MODULE MEETS OR EXCEEDS STATE REQUIREMENTS FOR CHILDCARE LICENSURE. Medical transcription is a desired field for most people trying to work at home. Strong typing, computer, and English grammar skills are essential. Medical terminology, formats, rules and regulations, jobs, calculation of pay, confidentiality, FTP, and tricks of the trade, all equipment, reference books, and course books are provided with the course fee. Classes are once a week for 16-weeks with a completion of 16 weeks to 6 month options. This is a State Certified Program and you will receive a Certificate of Completion and Letter of Recommendation upon graduation, resumes and how to obtain a job are covered in this program. Course includes medical terminology, Anatomy & physiology and transcription.

The course runs either 16 weeks or up to 6 months.

Phlebotomy with CPT Certification

Become Nationally Certified in 10 weeks as a Phlebotomy Technician by professionals in the industry. Our course is all-inclusive and in-depth. You will be able to: Perform basic phlebotomy procedures; Evaluate patients for the ability to withstand venipuncture procedure; Explain the venipuncture procedure and answer patient questions; Perform basic point of care testing, such as blood glucose levels on patients; Prepare blood, urine, and other body fluid specimens for testing according to established standards. Clinicals are performed during the class, including 75 sticks, and will require immunization records prior to enrollment. Tuition includes national certification, books, resume and job assistance.

Behavioral Health Professional (BHP) Certification Training

Our communities are looking for individuals who want to make a difference in a child’s life.

Children’s behavioral health services are vital to Maine’s children with intellectual disabilities, autism, and mental health disorders and their families. And the need in our area is great! As an integral part of the child’s treatment team, a Certified Behavioral Health Professional (BHP) has the opportunity to make an immediate impact while helping a child grow and develop to their full potential.

We are excited to connect our communities with Woodfords Family Services for this wonderful ONLINE training program. The online training will equip you to successfully help children who are currently on a waitlist for services. The training will prepare you for employment through local social services agencies. The program can be started at any time and finished at your own pace.

You will complete 12 online modules then two 4-hour live sessions.
Once the modules are completed, you will receive free online bloodborne pathogen training and virtual First Aid & CPR training if you do not already possess those certifications.
The entire training requirements will take about 45 hours.
Assistance with job placement is provided to anyone who completes the program.
Assistance with technology may be available.

Prerequisites:

A high school diploma or equivalency. Proof of education is required.
Must be 18 years of age or older upon completion of the course.
An administration fee of $25 is required at registration.
A reading comprehension assessment is required prior to completing the application, administered through your local Maine Adult Education program. This requirement may be waived by showing successful completion of a college-level English course.
