Acrylic Paint– Cadmium Yellow Light (and, if you like, Lemon Yellow, or another cool yellow)
Cadmium Red Light and Alizarin Crimson
Ultramarine Blue and Pthalo Blue, or another cool blue)
Titanium White–several large tubes
(Also helpful are cerulean, viridian, magenta, yellow ochre, raw sienna & raw umber)
Supports– Pre-stretched, pre-primed cotton duck canvas,
in squarish sizes–i.e. 20 x 24″, 20 x 20″, 18 x 20″, etc.
Linen, although more expensive and variegated,
is often the preferred support, if so desired.
Canvas panels, mounted on board & primed are also serviceable,
and canvas pads can be used for practice and color mixing.
Brushes– Natural bristle or synthetic brushes in flats, filberts and brights,
from #4, 6, 8, 10 & 12, and it’s helpful to have a 1″ bristle brush.
Palette– Any traditional hand-held or pre-formed, plastic palette,
disposable tablet palettes, or paper/plastic plates.
Other materials–Two open water containers, palette knife, paper towels,
and an easel (helpful, but not necessary) – standing or table model.
