Heidi Nolan Wins Outstanding Adult Education Teacher Award

Heidi NolanFive Town CSD Adult and Community Education announces teacher Heidi Nolan has won a Maine Adult Education Association Outstanding Teacher of the Year award at the annual Maine Adult Education Association Conference held at Colby College in June.

Heidi has been tutoring at Five Town CSD’s Adult Learning Center for 9 years.  She is the teacher for Literacy tutoring, HiSET (formerly GED) preparation, College Transitions tutoring and advising, and for ESOL tutoring.  Last year she designed and taught the “Math Boot Camp” programs, which she teaches at URock (University College at Rockland) to serve students in need of math help.  In addition, this year Heidi started tutoring and advising people at the homeless shelter in Rockport, which serves the homeless in Knox, Lincoln and Waldo counties. Heidi’s programs are all open enrollment, meaning people can join and attend when they are able to, with the exception of Math Boot Camp.

The Maine Adult Education Association chooses just two outstanding teachers for this award from the many nominees who have all been teaching over five years, plus one teacher who has been teaching less than five years.

Five Town CSD Adult and Community Education is based at Camden Hills Regional High School, 25 Keelson Dr., Rockport.  The Adult Learning Center is located at 7 Lions Ln. in Camden, in the Superintendent’s office building near the middle school. For more information or to sign up for any of Heidi’s programs contact the adult ed office at 236-7800, ext. 5., or call Heidi Nolan directly at 236-3358, ext. 319.

Thank You For Another Successful Year!

It has been another successful year in our Adult Education program!  Thank you for making our adult education program one of the most successful in the State of Maine! Well over 2,000 people take part in it each year. Keep in mind that we are constantly looking for new ideas and new teachers and are continually striving to make this a diverse and inviting program. We need your help to make this a truly “community” education program.  Let us know what you would like to see us offer, or what you could teach or any other ideas you think would help make this a program that serves this community better.  Thanks to all who have participated over this past year!
